While it would be great if we could all get together and have lunch, I don't think that is going to happen so I thought I could take a few minutes and tell you a little about me... and we can pretend to eat something delicious :)

I am Angela Van Buskirk, CMT, AHDI-F. I've been in the medical transcription industry for nearly 20 years, and feel very blessed that it allowed me to stay at home while my sons grew up (which they have done so fast it made my head spin!). I've been with AccuPro 13 years -- I can't even get my head around how fast the time has flown!

While I am on the subject of my boys -- I can tell you about my family. I am the proud mom of Spencer 19, and Trevor 16. My husband Darren has been my other half for nearly 20 years and I can't imagine a day without him. We have 2 dogs; Jack (my Jack Russell terrier) is 13, and Buddy (the yellow lab) is 5... and still a dorky puppy in his head. With a whole house full of men -- dogs included -- I get treated like the queen, and I love that!! We live right smack dab in the heartland middle America -- Springfield, Missouri.

You can see by the silly pictures we went to Medieval Times (in Orlando). We love to travel, and go, go, go as often as possible. We take vacations all over the country, the boys love it, we love spending time with them, and each other -- it is a lot of fun! I would have to say, however, hands down the beach is our bliss. Nothing compares to the sound of the ocean.

Some of my favorite things are live comedy, and live music. Darren and I go to comedy shows as often as possible, and we love live jazz bands. Trevor is quite the trumpet player so I'm hoping maybe someday we'll be sitting in a club listening to HIM play.

In the industry, I try to be as active as possible. I have done beta testing for Stedmans, I mentor newly graduated medical transcriptionists in my spare time, and I am helping a colleague write an medical transcription book (when I'm not working on my own novella). I have my CMT, as well as my AHDI-F designation, and have renewed every 3 years since 2000. I will continue to renew because I feel it is important. When you work hard, you should have something to show for it -- I feel the "CMT" and "AHDI-F" after my name does just that. I have attended 2 national conventions, and plan to attend more.

Well, I can see by the clock on the wall our lunch time is over. I'll pick up the tab on this one ---- you can get it next time. :)

Until we TRULY get to meet .... be blessed!

Angela
